B&O C30 Rebuild

Opened these up to find another crossover surprise. The manual is showing the same 6.8uf cap as the CX100's I just restored.
I found another reference/comment that the C30s had 2 caps 8uf and 15uf.
Possible B&O changed the crossover design mid-production?
Strange, but true..

So manual has a different schematic than above with only a 6.8uF cap for the tweeter and no cap for the midwoofer?
The schematic you drew above is a basic 2nd order high pass and low pass.George / NJ

That's another weird one, at least with my limited experience. Except for the tweeter and midwoofer being partially in series, it would be a basic 1st order low pass and high pass. How much current would make the path only through the tweeter and woofer in series and what is the purpose of that?George / NJ

Not sure, these are only rated at 30W, hence C30. C40's rated 40W.
Going sell these when done, so ordered Yellow Dragons for them.
Think the factory resistors are worth upgrading to new wire-wound? They ohm out exactly 4.7 ohm...

These guys are actually time-aligned and the midwoofer is positioned on top.

Will button these back up and have a listen with just the foam frame mod and new butyl surrounds when they arrive....

Butyl damping the enclosures and the transmission line baffles...
Refurb'd the tweeter diffusers...
Made new PVA gaskets for tweeters since they are an alloy bezel plate...

Yellow dragons finally showed up along with the new 4.7 ohm wire-wound resistors...
After some digging, I found that these are Seas tweeters. Still can't find a diagram with these components however.

Is that Copper piece on the large inductor working as a Faraday shield? I was thinking it is a no no to orient the inductors the same way but that could take care of it maybe.George / NJ

I believe so. The Germans had the inductors this way, so they're staying put. More strangeness, but they did come up with Die Glocke ya know.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

This little Class D amp puts some good punch into these, but they would still need a sub. They drop off about 70 HZ, but fill the 16x16 master bedroom without having to crank them up much...

Brought them up to the shop to run with the Polk sub in the corner.
For near-field, raised at ear level they don't disappoint. 👍
