Bluetooth issues

For some reason only win I'm using my Bluetooth om my receiver my polk surround sound speakers don't work hardly at all. But if I play the radio or anything with direct contact to the receiver they all work great. One of my front speakers works better then the other also win Bluetooth is on. It's so weird. I have no clue. I'm hoping someone will have some insight om this for me plz. Thanks in advance.

Receiver and speaker models would be helpful. What is the Bluetooth source?

By 'direct contact', presuming you mean cabled connections. If so, of what components?

Sounds like balance is off and input gain reduced.

  • Ok sorry I should of been more specific. Receiver is sony str dh 770 & it's a old polk 5.1 speaker setup. The surrounds are monitor 30's center cs1 & floors are monitor 50's. Yes they all work good win the radio is on or if I play something from my tv through hdmi. So far it's just the bluetooth that is not sounding right. It's a older reciever but it's new to me. I got it about a month ago.
  • Bluetooth from my tablet or phone both

Yeah, no sweat on older gear, many of us here like to take advantage of the deals on 2nd hand markets.

In the interest of quick resolution, if you don't have a bunch of custom configurations made on the Sony at this point, I'd start with a factory reset.

Have you been through the manual? If you don't have a paper one, you can download here from Sony
    https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/audio-components-receivers-amplifiers/str-dh770/manualshttps://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4584/45840791M.pdf

By direct contact - are you talking about using a 3.5mm to RCA cable with one of these mobile devices?

Again, sounds to me like there's some balance or processing enabled on the Bluetooth input for the receiver that's messing up your audio. If you've been through all the settings manually, a factory reset will ensure everything's back to baseline, nothing missed.

  • Ok sorry for the late reply. I've been crazy busy with work. I honestly thought I was a little more knowledgeable about home audio then this. Lol. Ok so my main issue since I hooked all this up is. Basically I'm not getting my full surround sound out of anything but my radio like I was saying. I did find out that bluetooth will not support 5.1 or higher. But other stuff should. Radio is the only thing that all speakers work properly. Even if I play Spotify for instance off my tv only my 2 sub's & 2 fronts & center work. I can barley hear my back speakers. Also sometimes my 2 fronts sound different from one another. Like my right will sound better then left & vice versa.
  • I think I will try to do a reset like you said. That makes since. I appreciate your feedback.
  • One more thing. Since I bought this reciever used a month or so ago. I haven't done a auto calibration. Now idk if that matters or not but I would think it wouldn't hurt at all. I ordered one because that was the only thing I didn't get win buying this. Before long I will upgrade my reciever. This one isn't bad but it can be better for sure. I just like the amount of watts per channel & the fact I can use 2 subs. I will always go with a 7.2 or at least 5.2 from now on. Do you have any recommendations on a good used receiver & even another set of speakers & subs? I'm always looking to upgrade. I will do it a few at a time prob. Buy you never know.
