Since the info I got from these forums was so helpfull I'll ask another question.

What would be some good choices in a DVD player be?

Budget about $200

and is there any truth to saying I've heard that your video gear should be the same brand for picture quality?

Thanks
Dave

No. If someone ever tells you that again, punch them square in the face.

Somebody that would say that probably also owns a Bose system, because as we all know, "Bose is the Best".... ;)

Are you looking for a single disc or changer? You could get a nice single disc dvd player, but with the changer you might, on the average, pay more just for the convenience of the changer and lose out on some technology...It's all give and take...

No....go take a look at the system showcase on this site and you will see many people w/ different brand TV's and DVD's...

If your TV supports DVI digital video interconnect then I would suggest the Samsung DVD-HD841 HDTV-Compatible Upconverter DVD Player. It comes with a DVI cable and supports multi-format capability for DVD-Audio and Super Audio CDs. $179 at circuitcity.

I thought that was pretty stupid also.

oh a single disc player is fine. I'm still working on being able to watch several movies at once. :D

forgot to mention my tv is 50 or 52 inch Mitsibishi rear projection about 6-7 years old.

I have found a DVD player that might do nicely.

    Pioneer DV-578A

2 things I would like is to be able to play SACD and DVD-Audio
Optical audio out would be nice and my AVR can handle up to the DVI connections.

Any Opinions on this make, model.

    And just for the record:

Is it me or does it seem the new color of choice in equipment is Silver?? black seems to be getting harder to find.
