Thought he was excellent in The Kominsky Method also.

RIP. I remember him as the Russian submarine officer in "The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming." Good actor. Trivia: Brian Keith played the police chief, both him and Alan spoke fluent Russian.

One thing I admire about Alan Arkin is he was in so many movies as a supporting actor not playing the lead role and he just blended right into all the characters and made the movies he was in better for it. The man was talented. Reading the long list of his credits and I keep saying "oh, yeah he was in that."

    Here's a scene from Gattaca...

^^^ I agree, I liked him in Gattaca, too. Funny, I couldn't figure at first what he had to do with Uma Thurman in the thumbnail, and then remembered. Talk about blending. I'd completely forgotten about him being in it, and that's one of my favorite films. Third DVD I bought. I liked his character in it. Without much dialog, you could tell how he felt about his boss, and about what they were doing.

I've been meaning to watch Catch-22 for a long while. I started reading that book years ago before I read more regularly, and never finished it. I remember it being cleverly written, though, and when I saw years later that there was a film with Alan Arkin in it, it went on the watch list. I think I TiVo'd it from TCM.
