suggestions on changing cabinet from black to cherry stain

I'm picking up a pair of SAD 2 A's with a black cabinet (which I presume is an original-studio model ?). Any suggestions or prohibitions to change the surface to a wood stain? I'm thinking of applying a seal coat and then a color stain. Any thoughts as to if this would affect the sound fidelity?

^^^ That is your only option. No, it will not affect the sound.

Vinyl will not accept stain. You'll need to remove the vinyl wrap, reveneer with cherry veneer then restain to your color choice

Synergistic research makes a black paint that supposedly makes things sound better if you decide to double down on the black- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
