I finally did it !

I'm the proud new parent of a set of Polks !

Rti8's sounding super compaired to my 10 year old Cerwins.

Csi3 kicks my 7 year old JBL's butt.

Fxi3's still sitting in the box but..... 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Thank you all for the recommendations.

not a bad set up for only $940

Dollar for dollar, Polk makes some of the best. I'm Biased, but you just can't compete in the performance vs. value.

Wait till you listen to some SDA's...;)

Other companies like Paradigm, Axiom and Energy also make some great performance to value ratio speakers. Polk hasn't really cornered the market on great value. You do sacrifice some of the panache of higher quality speakers and their furniture grade finishes etc.. but most people can live with those compromises.

I realize this is club polk but that doesn't mean you ignore all other brands and worship at the altar of speakers you can get at Best Buy does it? It's great to support a particular brand but to stick one's head in the sand and pretend other makes don't exist or MAY be better than polk seems obtuse to me.

I had to drive 75 miles out of town to get this system.

I had to literally flip a coin to decide between the Csi3 $179 and the Csi5 $399

It was tails and the Csi3 won.

    ***UPDATE***

I went into the local CC today. They were all out of Csi5's told the girlfriend that I needed some cables so we dropped by. I asked about the demo Csi5 and walked out with it for $199.

    WooHooo :)

    ***FYI***

local CC here has an open box set of Rti8's for $229/each if anyone needs/wants

    also, Csi3's for $149

    not many left.

Anyone still see the Csi5 for $249. I have found it in one store near me by they are telling me it is priced at $399. I got the Csi3 for $135 but would definitely spend the extra hundred for the 5. I am not so sure I wanna spend an extra 265 or should I just bite the bullet and pay the full price.

Would you recommend the Fxi3's or the Rti6's as rears to go with Rti8 fronts ???

I don't know if this may help but you could try telling your local store that they are/were selling the 5 here in memphis for $249 and see if they will match their price.

I don't know where you are located but I recall the CC in Jackson Tn as having 2 Csi5's left. That was a two days ago.

I have only heard the Fxi3's in the store as mine are still in the box but I think they sound super and I got mine for $262/pair new in the box at the Jackson Tn CC I know they only have the demo's left might be able to get those for around $200

When I was about to buy the Rti8's in the Jackson Tn CC he was going to charge me $349 each he matched the $249 price I saw in Memphis...

    worth a shot

I am located very just north of NYC. Maybe I can find someone who can scan me a copy of their receipt showin a price of 249 and they will match it in CC. I don;t knwo why they would raise the price again on the Csi5 since they are discontinuing the Rti line

    Welcome to the forum.

Paradigm, Axiom, Energy.... Go Canada Go. :)

I agree with Mike on this one. Although I do own Polks, my next set of speakers I'll listen around and they won't necessarily be Polks. Maybe some SDA's, but up here in Northern Ontario that's highly unlikely. And as far as asthetics are concerned IMO Polk doesn't compete with high end speaker makers in that department.

Since we have turned to a Pro-Canada stance how about those PSB's very nice!

It took me months of research to make the decision to go with the Polks.

    Contibuting factors........

Paradigm.... 1 store in this area that carries them and they tried to steer me to another brand.

Axiom.... not bad prices, great looking and I mean great but I didn't want to spend the time playing Fed-ex tag just to hear some speakers

Energy.... Must have missed that one didn't get a chance to look at those

PSB.... This really got to be a tuff one.. these look better then the Rti8's I bought in soooo many ways I can't count them. Sounded great alittle more money then the Polks but wow.

Polk... I could hear them in many different locations... look ok..sound alot better then what I had... the main retailer phasing out the models and dropping prices to low to ignore.

    Layman opinion... Polk wins

    Two things:

Best Buy doesn't sell Polk...not sure where that one came from. I doubt BB will ever carry Polk... at least not here in the USA...

No one is sticking their head in the sand and pretending others don't exist...try a search on here for SVS, see what you come up with...credit is given to other companies where credit is due...

No one said Polk is the be all end all of speakers, just said that:
Dollar for dollar, Polk makes some of the best.

Other brands like paradigm, axiom, and energy make great products...I just prefer Polks. Just becuase I bought Polk and joined this board doesn't mean I've never listened to anything else.

I bet that's the same for most of us on here. We listened to several brands and found Polk to be our favorite. We have not ignored those other brands...we've listened to them and just preferred the Polks... I imagine if you went to a Paradigm board, you'd get their equivalent of our reaction here...

Did you get that on tape??:D

Pro Ac, I have been listening alot of things over the course of this life. I'm not ruling out ant other brands. I have a personal preference.

Nothing more nothing less. The guy is praising his Polk purchase, and you basically want to say they're ok, but there's better. You're right, there is. I could find bookshelves that would that would make your coffee in the morning, for a price.

    They make a good speaker.

    Get off the soapbox.
