"I calmly managed to fight what I felt to be a prehistoric fish," he said.

Which begs the question ... just how old would a 330lb, 9 foot catfish be?!

Yep that's a bigun, if you were noodling your forearm wouldn't work, pretty sure your upper torso would do the trick. Holy Cow!

It was highly rumored when I was a kid that a diver went down into Lake Accotink back in the late 70's or early 80's to inspect the dam infrastructure. Supposedly, he came across a massive catfish that scared him so bad, he would not go back under. Rumor has it that he was afraid that the fish would swallow him whole. The water was so murky, all he could make out was the size of the fish's mouth....and that's all it took.

We used to slide down that dam and "illegally" swim on both sides of it when it got to hot. From the 70's to 80's, this park was where you would find me as a kid daily. Back in the back part of the lake, we had a BMX bike jump that was to die for (30' high and 3 different jumps), swamps that were endless and untouched by civilization (man, did I see some incredible nature back there), a rope swing that launched you out into the lake (this was known as THE skinny dippin' spot) and trails that we typically rode twice each day just for fun.

We even had a place a little bit down from the BMX jump site to where you could swim with the beavers at Beaver's Dam. All you had to do was walk across a log and climb onto the beaver dam's hut, stomp on it and the beaver's would come out. Mama beaver scared the living **** outta me one day when she came barreling down the hill toward the pond. It was at that same location I got bit by a baby Copperhead while catching snakes.

    Fun park! Fun times!

That same huge catfish tale was also prevalent at Lake Kentucky where we water-skied in my youth. Must have been the same diver😂🤣

Probably in his best interest anyway. A fish that old, and that big, AND being a bottom dweller, has likely absorbed ALL kinds of toxins...not good eatin'.

EDIT: In fact, there are warnings in the US regarding eating fish of certain sizes from certain waterways.

Not a fish, but an adapted raw sewage dweller.
