Theta Intrepid humming

I’m hoping someone may know some things to try before I store it away.

It’s a 5 channel amp I purchased a few years ago. It’s been fine this whole time but I moved it to the bedroom and I guess it didn’t like it.

Currently 4 out of 5 channels are buzzing/humming. My last attempt it made a huge sound and hurt my ear.

I’ve tried switching rca cables, unplugging all other devices. It does this without anything plugged in but the speakers. I tried multiple outlets and the one it was working previously.

Just wanted to run it by you guys.
Setup:

2 Channel: Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grand, T+A P 1230R, Primare SPA21, Oppo BDP-105
PC: Vienna Acoustics Haydn Grand, Cambridge Azure 650A v2 , Peachtree iDAC, Denon DVD-3800BDCI

Sounds like a bad filter capacitor, if it's doing that even in the previous outlet you were using.

The age of the amp alone indicates it's time for some maintenance

Thanks for the help on this. I’m going to try replacing the fuse. I pulled it out and it just all white so couldn’t see if it was busted or not.

I emailed support and they said it needs to be serviced. Doesn’t hurt to try the fuse.

If the fuse is blown, there is a reason that it blew. Best to have it serviced first and have them replace the fuse. You don't want to compound the issue and create yet another possible issue.

Do not power up the amplifier until it's been serviced!

Theta was not cheap when new, so I expect costs to be somewhat higher than a bread and butter amp, but should still be cheaper than buying a new cheap amp, and you will have something that should run another 20 years.
