Curious as to what might be your favorite album by them.

  • I just recently replaced my copy of 4. The old one saw too many parties back in the day. I found a really clean copy at a record store in Corning NY. One of my favorite albums of all time. So many good memories attached to that music.

Their first 4 albums without a doubt are the best. If I had to choose one, it's a toss-up between the debut and 4. I remember when Double Vision first came out. I was saving my allowance for that record and couldn't wait to get my copy. When George Grand was still with us. He had a brand new, original sealed copy listed in one of his sales. I snagged it up quick! Played it once after ripping it to 96k digital that resides on my NAS.

The first 3 albums are classic, they lost me after Headgames. The 4th one even though I own it never gets played they lost me with that top 40 pop they put out.

This Blu Ray live at The Rainbow 78 is a worthy purchase last of the Debut shows, they introduce songs off the upcoming Double Vision album. Lou even sits behind the drum kit for a couple of tunes. Foreigner when they Rocked.

That BluRay really shows the bands talent, especially Lou’s vocal ability, and intensity he had on stage, also I love the days of no frills just let the music move you approach, such a good band, and successful, but still seems like they are or can be overlooked..

    Great stuff..

I totally agree. Double Vision was the album I carried with me when auditioning new speakers for my first stereo system. I still have that album. The new lead singer is good but Lou Gramm will always be the lead singer of Foreigner to me.

Was listening to random selection of my library through Roon this evening and Tooth and Nail from Agent Provocateur came on. Reminded me that I wanted to post in this thread....

Double Vision introduced me to Foreigner AND "hard rock" as I entered my teen years. Up 'til then, my 70's youth was a diet of top 40 pop. Also discovered Boston, Aerosmith and Van Halen at the same time.

Foreigner fan and love all their efforts through Agent Provocateur. But, Double Vision with it's gritty straight forward presentation, Lou's vocals and just plain cool guitar work is my favorite album. I can still remember thinking, "Wow!" the first time I heard the LP. Van Halen 1 and Running w/the Devil hit me the same way. I'd found a brave new world I didn't know existed.

Saw Foreigner in 1985 at the Nürburgring (famous race track) in Germany. Two day festival called Rock am Ring. Biggest concert I've ever attended. Not the same but, in a way, the closest thing to Woodstock I've encountered. Camping in the mud, partying and bouncing between multiple stages. Pretty good line-up and several acts still in their glory years: Foreigner, U2, REO Speedwagon, Face To Face, Rick Springfield, Night Ranger, Saga, Huey Lewis and The News, Joe Cocker, Lone Justice, The Alarm, Chris de Burgh, Mink Deville, Immaculate Fools, Marillion, Gianni Nannini, Shakatak, Marius Müller-Westernhagen and Russ Ballard.

First day and after a night of camping in mud....beautiful blue sky!

My buddy passed out at the concert after a night of partying. Can't say you get a sun tan too often in Germany but he was roached after this!

Foreigner's set. We moved closer to the stage at some point (day 2?). Pic's of Lou and the boys I took w/my 35mm:

I have more pics of U2, Reo, Huey, etc...but have to highjack the thread and give a shout out to another killer band that weekend. Night Ranger rocked!!!
