T15 resistance
Soooo…. I have a set of T15’s, bought them used from a lil old lady. They look great. Went to use them, and thought “meh, what the hell. Better check resistance before I hook ‘em up” well, I’m reading 4.1 ohms on each once. Specs say 6-8. Seems really fishy. So, I checked with my other fluke meter and same. Are these common to fry like this? I just rebuilt my crossovers in my T75’s because of this. Any clue if this is normal?

I don't know if you are comparing a DC resistance measurement with nominal impedance rating? If so they are definitely 2 different things entirely.George / NJ

Yeah… but dc resistance usually reads within 10% of AC impedance on an 8 ohm speaker from what I’ve seen. Is this not the case with these?

Sorry, I couldn't say without seeing the schematic. Capacitors don't pass DC.George / NJ

What those specs really say is the speakers are compatible with 6-8 ohm power sources. Polk needs to do a better job listing specs.
A typical 8 ohm speaker will measure between 5 and 7 ohms of resistance, so from that I think it's likely the T15 is a nominal 6 ohm speaker. Therefore, 4.1 ohms at the posts means there's nothing wrong with your speakers.Political Correctness'.........defined

Well thats a relief. Something is up with my Marrantz SR6005 avr then. When i connect the surround speakers, the right one is cutting out then quits altogether.

Well, there could be a cold solder joint somewhere inside the speaker.Political Correctness'.........defined

Just switched speaker and the problem stays on the same channel. Going to pull apart the receiver later and check the output terminals. Oh, and this is the schematic for the T15’s. Simple first order crossover. I might upgrade the caps while my receiver is down.
