I thought you all would like these…
I’m guessing some experimental models made it into the wild.

How bizarre.
-
Looks to me like someone took a cabinet of another speaker and placed various Polk drivers in them. A mini FrankenPolk, if you will.
Tom~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
And then let a rat chew on 'em.

Well, if it were a repurposed cabinet, it was either one that held drivers of the same form factor(s) or someone did an awfully neat job of revising the baffle (or they made new baffles).
bang & olufsen used the Peerless tweeters, of course (as did many others), but I can't offhand remember any with a cabinet proportioned like these.
They just seem bizarre (there's that word again) -- right down to the mismatched tweeters!
... and yeah the surround definitely looks gnawed upon.
-
Seems like there would have been room to center the tweeters. Or maybe put them in opposite corners.
But why am I even thinking about this? 😂Brian

Offset tweeters are often better for minimizing baffle edge diffraction effects. Looks like someone designed a cabinet to be the same size as an existing Polk model so as to use the Polk grille, but modified to be magnetic attachment method. I question the recessed baffle. Polk never woulda done that lol.George / NJ

So -- not to roil the waters unnecessarily here -- but I just saw something quite interesting at www.hifihaven.org that I wanted to mention in the conext of the odd "Model 5" that is the subject of this thread.
