I got a 5.1 set of ancient speakers for next to nothing on FB mostly for the subwoofer. The tweeter domes on 3 out of 5 speakers are pretty much destroyed (sliced open). I was wondering if there's anything I can do with these still or is best to go straight to the trash?

The last time I called Polk CS about replacement tweeters for the RT55i I was told they didn't have any. Your best bet is to search ebay, chances are nil. I've had an ebay search for 3yrs now it has not notified me yet. The drivers can be found off and on.
-
Copy, that. Are there any alternatives to replace them with? Seems like a waste to just trash them- I could part them out I guess
-
The tweeters are pressed into the raised front bezel, I know of no other tweeters that would accommodate both the bezel and the face plate that snaps into it.
-
Im curious if they could be wuhaned. Is one of the tweeter magnets separated from the faceplate?

The 25i is a different tweeter
I believe this should work

Thats awesome! I think the the 25 may not be worth the effort/cost but the 55s should be.
I'm wondering, since they're are pressed in could I 3d print an adapter for a more common 1" tweeter then fit it. I own a 3d printer and good at designing. -
Nah stick with what they are designed for- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Looks like all the ones you linked to were SL6502 for both the RTi55 and RTi25. It looks like it might be closer to SL5507 for the RTi25 (though that it's silver and the SL5507 is not.
The lowest price with shipping was $50 a piece which seems worth it for the RTi55s but not likely for the RTi25.
I was also looking at this listing:

Would that work with a little glue and solder since it only seems like the diaphragms are damaged?

Is it just running a tone through to check for distortion before final gluing?
I actually picked up a set of RTI38 and RTi150 from FB marketplace recently so these are now just a project for me.
I will say I'm not an audiophile but do appreciate clear sound quality so OEM is not necessary required. -

Ive finally opened up the speakers and found out the ones in the RT55i are SL6506 and the RT25i are SL6510. I'm not sure what the difference is between the 6502 vs 6506 but both run around $60 shipped.
Separately I found some RT150 towers and RT38I bookshelf speakers for pretty cheap and don't necessarily have a need to replace the RT25s.
Anyone have an idea if it's worth it to spend the $60 to get the RT55i speakers running as rears or just keep the RT38s and not mess with them? -
The 38 150 series was the shortest run RT series ever, for good reason. Downgrade in sound quality and build quality- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Downgrade from what exactly? Also for less than a $100 I'm satisfied with them. -

That’s a great deal! If your happy, rock on man!
I am for sure, but it's really quite difficult to really gauge how good a speaker is without a direct comparison. For something that's 20 years old and predates YouTube it's even more difficult. All this is for a starter HT kit as opposed to going the boxed route and will upgrade as feasible/necessary so I'm open to honest opinions but I am by means an audiophile. -
The RT series went like this, using the largest monitor for reference
RT5 / RT35 / RT35i / RTi38 / RTi6 / RTiA3
RT5 to RT35i and RTiA3 were all normal Polk quality
RTi38 (Downgrade in cabinet/grill finish and downgrade in drivers) and RTi6 (poorly constructed enclosures and finishing) were a deviation from the norm.
RTiA3 was one of the longest running series with the nicest cabinets.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
