I have serious questions that I need answered. I cannot rely on your call center in the Philippines to I have tried over 20 times to talk to somebody in the states.I have a HEGEL H20 amp that I just got a few weeks ago in anticipation of hooking it up to the Legend. However, I watched a video that is scaring the heck out of me.https://youtu.be/6MLgmBm-LtE. It discussed compatibility with external amps . Is my Hegel H20 compatible. I spent $6000 on this amp and $6000 on the speakers. IS this compatible and unbalanced? This needs to be readily available to purchasers before they are allowed to buy the Legend. Here is the details:
H20 High-End Power Amplifier, 2x200W 8 ohms, 2x350W in 4 ohms. The Hegel H20 incorporates the latest version of the Hegel FET-technology. A practical benefit of the H20 FET-technology is a more rhythmic sound. It is simply better at re-creating a bass line. Another vital element is the removal of harmonic echoes in the higher frequencies, which result in a lot more detail and still a smoother and more natural sound. The core design of the H20 is based on the H30 reference amplifier, with the best possible implementation of our patented and laser trimmed SoundEngine modules. Also designed in the timeless Hegel look, it will fit in any modern or classic home. Just one single button on the front and a solid bead blasted and anodized front panel. A truly rigid design with well over 1,5 kg of aluminium in the front panel alone.
New too the H20 is bead blasted and anodized top and side covers. This adds to the exclusive look, and the overall design is more consistent. The Hegel H20 is a remarkable power amplifier with power capabilities of more than 130 Ampere. Extremely low distortion levels. Amongst the highest damping factor in the industry, and full control of the loudspeakers. All this to give you the most NATURAL, RHYTHMIC and DYNAMIC sound on the market today.

Maybe just one thread at a time?
-
Doesn't appear to be balanced differential so I'd lean towards yes you're good.
-
I only respond to the third thread- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

At least he didn't put his phone number in this one like he did in the other one. Jokes on him though, already got a dozen anchovy pizzas on their way.

I prefer Pepperoni Clipdat!

SeleniumFalcon, thanks for your help. Im gonna place a call to Hegel. The other post I did was intended for Polk customer service. My fault.
-
Yeah reach out to Hegel to be sure, but I'm pretty sure you should be golden.
Congrats on the speakers as well as the amp, looks like a good one. And welcome to the forum, hope you stick around. -
This appears to be a photograph of the inside of the Hegel:
You can see what appears to be the black wires leading from the circuit board to the negative terminal outputs of the amplifier. There also seems to be a smaller black wire which appears to be a ground heading to the same output negative terminal. There is also green wires heading to the same connection. All indicating the negative speaker post is at ground potential, so you should be fine. But, by all means check with Hegel to be sure. -
And stick around and let us know how it all sounds! I've had my eye on some Hegel gear for a while.

Can't imagine what a pepperoni Clipdat pizza would taste like.
Agree the amp should work fine!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
You guys freakin rock! Appreciate you all. Placed a call into Hegel. Will keep you updated.

Shouldn't matter, I prefer XLR.
What's your source/pre? -
The reason I'm asking is because of the unbalanced/balanced for the L800 Legend. Thanks
-
From Hegel, H20 is a balanced differential amplifier.Damn! Gonna have to take back these Polks.
-
-
CLIPDAT, Hegel Music Systems P20 Preamplifier, but Im gonna have to take back polks because the amp is H20 is a balanced differential amplifier. Polk needs to start disclosing this. Unbelievable.

I'm sorry to hear that, John.

Hegel claims they don't use any negative feedback, they use feed forward correction, don't know if that's better. -
Hegel reached out again from Norway, still confused as hell . Please help!
Hi John,
Please note that H20 is technically speaking not a balanced differential amp, however, this amp has a dual mono construction with separate ground for left and right channel. Left and right negative terminals must therefore not be connected (short circuited) or mixed up as this could lead to serious damage to the amp.
Best regards
