Saw this article on the bottom of google news today: https://spectrum.ieee.org/open-circuits

It features several photos from this book called Open Circuits: The Inner Beauty of Electronic Components: https://opencircuitsbook.com/

Cool stuff. Gives you some insight into the inner workings of the electronics that we all use in our daily lives. I may order the hardcover version to support their efforts.

They are indeed. Years ago I used to work in NASA's parts analysis lab. I got to do cross sectioning of components, destructive physical analysis (DPA), a lot of optical inspections under high magnification and electron microscopy.

Under the electron microscope, integrated circuits look like cities and futuristic worlds.

I have a collection of photos. Perhaps I'll scan some and post.
