Catching fire

I'm not talking Ev's either. Why all of a sudden are a ton of new cars and trucks
Being recalled for fire hazards? The small Ford engines in Broncos and
Escapes have an issue with fuel injectors cracking and leaking. There's a
GM recall for trucks. VW and Audi have a recall as well, but those vehicles are
a few years old. It seems there's a new one all the time. Those are just a few off
the top of my head.
The short term fix for the Bronco is cheezy. I guess replacing the injectors is too
$$$. To many technical changes in too short a period is my guess. That and saving
A few bucks. The scramble to find vendors to fill orders for parts sure isn't helping.

Thank goodness! I thought this thread was going to be about Jennifer Lawrence, the first female action hero that paved the way for other greats like Ellen Ripley, Sarah Conner, Lara Croft and Britney Griner.

We are reaping the benefits of technology, boys and girls.
Remember how, in the 1950s, cars would look different every year?
Now, with CAD/CAM, CNC tools, and super-high-res design workstations -- it takes 15 years to change the styling.
And they still all look the same. ;)

In terms of the guts, the bits and pieces are designed within an inch of their metaphorical lives (and... ahem ours) to save money in terms of raw materials and manufacturing cost. Both of those, of
course, are very green things to do -- in both senses of the word. ;)

So -- of course the new cars are much much better. They don't rust, they self-destruct.

Even so, if tongue in cheek...
You're dead on about the "pieces are designed within an inch of their metaphorical lives"!

What a shame things are built like this nowadays.
We collect, and use, older Sunbeam mixers.
Built like a tank. Only electronics in them are a large capacitor and a large resistor. The one we have from the 40's runs great.
So sad everything is now built with only profits in mind.

It's called let's just build something and worry about it later.
Was wondering if the majority of the vehicles listed are 4cyl turbos. Perhaps too much pressure and power...
