SVS Shootout
Ok, I've gathered that the answer to my previous thread on SVS vs. HSU favors the SVS by a slight, but ever so important margin. My question is now this:
Which would you recommend, SVS 20-39 PC+ or PB 2+. I'm looking at saving up for either one of those two. I'd love the PB 2 Ultra, but there's no way I'm spending more on a sub that the whole of the rest of my speakers. Just can't justify it, but based on what I've read on the website, I'm leaning toward the PB 2+. I guess what I'm asking is which one will rock my world lower and louder? I'll use it for probably 70% film viewing, 30% music. Thanks.

I would say the 2+ if you have the room size for it. Mine simply pounds when called upon.

I guess what I'm asking is which one will rock my world lower and louder?
Let's see:
20 - 39 PC+ = one db-12 twelve inch driver and 525 watt amp.
PB2+ = two db-12 twelve inch drivers and a 900 watt amp.
Looks clear to me which one will rock ya world more.;)
You should email SVS and ask them. They will not oversell you a sub. Have your room dimensions including ceiling height and openings to other rooms described. Also how loud do you watch movies based on "reference" calibration with the Avia or Sound / vision DVD. -
Don't overlook the cylinder subs though.
True, the box sub have more power and speakers...but much of that is needed becuase the box design isn't quite as efficient as the cylinder...
Now sure what your budget is, but you may take a look at the PC Ultra...or two of the PCi 16-46 subs. The 16-46 will troll deep as hell, but you will sacrifice a few dbs on the more common frequency range...way to solve this? - add another 16-46...which should give you a few more dbs back...
What size is your room? Depending on room size, you may not even need a second sub. Mine is 15x16 with one of the four walls open to a much larger space and I'm 100% content with 1 sub. My original plan was to buy two subs, but that would just be crazy...Plus you could always get 1 now and a second later...
Just some things to think about...
