Connecting Spades

How the devil does one connect the spades to the binding posts?

I can see how pin type, bare wire and bannana connectors go but the spades are not so clear.

It should be sorta obvious. It is possible your spade has too small a diameter.
You loosen the terminal on the binding post and seat the spade beneath the binding post cap with the spades to either side of the post. Sorta like when a woman wraps her legs around your neck :p

Tighten the cap back down and your done. If your spade won't fit around the post you need a bigger spade.

If the womans legs won't fit around your neck, you need a bigger woman.

When you loosen the red/black cap, the post (a cylinder with a hole running through it) is revealed. It does not look like a solid vertical column that I could insert the spade around.

Am I supposed to keep turning the cap to reveal something else?

    Thanks.

In retrospect, I should have clarified my post a bit more. I am going to purchase new cables. Currently I have speaker cable that is unterminated. I just stripped the end and inserted the bare wire.

I have NOT personally seen how big a spade is. For whatever reason (which was wrong), I assummed that a spade would be very small. However, if they are supposed to go around the post, then "small" is not how I should have envisioned them.

And here I thought "newbie" was a thing of the past for me. :D
