I'm thinking about going to buy a whole new setup today. I've been researching for awhile and have been listening to a bunch of diffrent types of speakers and combos...

This is what i've come up with, what do you guys think?

I'm mainly a DVD movie buff and gaming buff...

Fronts - Polk RTi 10's

Center - Polk CSi 3

Surround - Polk FXi 3

Subwoofer - Veloydne DLS3500B

Powered by a Sony - STRDA2000ES 7.1 Reciever

EDIT: Now that i've been reading a few things what do you guys think about going with the CSI5's and the FXI5's over the 3's?

Are the 5's more comparible to the 10's or 12's?

That model is $399 I'm also considering the next step up which is a 12" for $599. I'm thinking if i go with the RTi10's i won't need such a powerful subwoofer..

Thanks for the welcome, nice forums :)

well the 10's are gonna need a little more juice than the norm..That AVR throws out 120 WPC and the 10's handle up to 300W so you would get the "most" out of them, IMHO i would say get the 8's and a bigger sub. 600.00 for the 12" what Hz and watts that thing specd at?

The sub is speced at 400 watts at 25-120 HZ +/- 3db

Not sure if that seems right though

Continous power is rated at 200 watts...

So you really think get the 8's over the 10's and get the 12" sub?

What if i got an amplifier?

You looking at some Xtra money,,,hey if you got it then go for it. Might i sugg one thing though, some guys around here might say i'm trying to brain wash you but...i would seriously check out one of these subs

    http://www.svsubwoofers.com/

I suggest this because you say you watch more movies than music and the pb1-ISD is right around the same price range as the 12" velvy you are looking at and they will let you demo in house for 30 days..(might even be 60), this will be plenty of bass and the mids from the 8's will make it real nice. Chances are you wont sent it back but this is all my .02
Let us know what you do.

    Sounds good...

I'm going over to Tweeter tonight to demo a few things... I listened to the 8's and the 10's and i noticed a huge diffrence between the two with the 10's being a much deeper more room filling speaker then the 8's.. Although i didn't try the 8's with a larger subwoofer. I tried the 8's with the 8" version of the velvy not the 12...

I will for sure let you guys know what i buy.. Tonight is the night :D

    Thanks!
