Subwoofer to pair with my Snell CV speakers

I have been considering adding a subwoofer to my two channel system. My speakers are Snell Acoustic C/V. I was studying the nearfield frequency measurements I found on Streophile, and it looks like a sub would fill in the bottom end where these speakers roll off.

My budget would be under $1500 for the sub and I'm not opposed to buying used. I do not want a high gloss finish, but I would like wood grain if possible. My room is 10 feet wide by 17 feet with 8 foot ceiling. I'm looking for suggestions.

Does your preamp have a sub out or how are you planning on doing the bass management/integration?
  • I would have to use the speaker level inputs. The preamp does not have sub out.

It's hard to beat servo subs, which Rythmik are. I would have recommended Velodyne, but their servo subs are a lot more money.

On the used market Martin Logan is hard to beat. Grotto, descent, depth, all sealed servo subs. I had the Grotto and it was one of the most musical subs I’ve owned, and I’ve had a few over the years 😂

Do not purchase a sub, instead send those Snells my way; I will take the sub-matching burden off your hands.

There's someone selling a pair of those within an hour's drive from me for $10k. I'm not a fan of the piano black though. I don't have the time to be constantly dusting my speakers.

I dust my speakers, my rack, and all of my components with a soft microfiber towel before every listen. :)
