Quick question about banana plugs...

Was just getting ready to order some NXG banana plugs, and was just wondering if I really need banana plugs on both ends - in other words, I'm definitely planning on ordering banana plugs for the end of the speaker wire that goes into the back of the receiver. But was just wondering if it's a good idea to use banana plugs where the speaker wire connects to the speaker, or does it make much difference? I was just looking at my LSi7 manual, and it looks like you have to take something off of the back of the speaker, to find the hole for the banana plug. It doesn't say anything about banana plugs in my Rti8 manual.
The speakers I own are a pair each of Rti8's, LSi7s, and Rt800is.
Also, does speaker wire really make a difference - for instance is Philips 14 gauge speaker wire as good as Monster THX 16 gauge wire?? My runs won't be longer than about 25 feet, and Crutchfield recommends that runs longer than 10 feet be 14 gauge.
Thanks for you help.

while you don't need plugs for both ends, it's more uniform and makes it very easy when you have to unplug your speakers.
Are you referring to the lil plastic plugs ?? just geta sharp object and pop'e m out !! -
By the way, I made a mistake above - it's my Rt800i's manual that doesn't say anything about using banana plugs - so am wondering if you can use banana plugs on the Rt800i's? I'm at work right now, so can't look at the back of the speakers, but it does sound like you just pry them out, so maybe it would be a good idea to get banana plugs for the speakers also. But, now am just wondering if they can be used on the Rt800i's?

according to the manual it's a 5way binding post which means you can use nanner plugs, and yes just pry out the lil plastic cap and insert plug
