so I have aquired a set of spica tc-50i from the 70s. Recently the tweeters gave out because of the age and they were never made well. I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations on tweeters that sound as well if not better than the original audax tweeters

"...were never made well"
I've owned my Spica TC-50 speakers since the mid '70's with never a problem, so I disagree with this statement. That speaker was extremely well engineered and crafted, each midrange/bass driver specification was measured and the crossover was adjusted for that specific driver.
This might help:

On that one I'd try the Dayton sticky dome/Morel copy.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

I had a pair of TC-50's a few years back. Never had an issue with drivers.--Gary--
