Just ordered a copy for $10 shipped on eBay, figured it was worth a shot. There is at least one more copy there if you’re interested @tophatjohnny

I added this one a year ago! Thank you brother!

I did not realize that this CD is as rare as a hen's tooth now. Yeah, if you see it? Snag it.

They are only going to go up in cost from here on out.

Happened upon a copy on eBay and hammered the Buy it Now button, posthaste. Enjoying a first spin of it as I type. Thanks for the recommendation, Tom et al.!

Dayyum. I figured at least one of you would have figured this one out. It's part of the lyrics within the song, "Rainy NIght in Georgia" by Millage Gilbert. I had been doing things to the rig yesterday (I'll tell you about the Ethernet cable later...wow) and right before I went to bed, I wanted to hear an entire album that I hadn't heard in some time.

So, I put in the Three Faces album by Millage Gilbert.....in memory of the late, great Mr. George Daniel's.

    bclwx36pep3h.png

When this song came on, I had forgotten what kind of a true gem this song was. I finished out listening to the album and went back to listen to this particular song two more times. It has been probably 3 or 4 years since I listened to this album in it's entirety and while I enjoyed the entire album, this song, on my system (probably yours too) just stood out as "simply awesome".

If you do not have the album. Get it today. You will not be wasting your money. George Daniel's was the one who turned me onto Millage Gilbert many, many years ago and as soon as I heard the first song he played off of this album.....I think it was, "Let's Straighten it Out".....I just knew I had to have this album.

My point last night was that this is not available on Qobuz or Tidal. Only physical music.

Jesse made another good point....and this is something that I was leaning toward talking about. In today's world, having access to many different formats (LP, streaming, digital/CD's, R2R) greatly enhances your chances to get the golden gems played back on the hi-fi rig. He can only get Michigan Curve - "Bluesmen Don't Use Umbrellas" through streaming. No physical media. I have encountered this on occasion as well.

Even Trey (@VR3) has stated to me that this album (Three Faces by Millage Gilbert) is one of the reasons he would ever go back to physical music. Makes sense because he can't listen to it on his rig. Ya' gotta have the physical music.

I also have many CD's that aren't available on vinyl and some LP's that simply are not available on any digital or streaming services.

    My point is this.

If you really love music. Ya' gotta have as many sources/formats as you can tolerate/have the room for. That way, when you want to hear your personal best on the best system you have?

    You can.

This song is part of my argument/point for having physical media. Jesse's mentioned album is part of my argument/point for having streaming.....speaking of. Now, I will stroll on back to the rig, fire her up for the day and listen to what Jesse is referring too. There's another good reason to stream music!

I remember this thread I thought you were refering to ELO, I will have to see if this is on Tidal, if not E-Bay here I come.

I’ve seen Millage Gilbert and, specifically, his “3Faces” album favorably mentioned in several different places here and now I’m finally privy to what the all the fuss has been about! It’s not often that I like every track on a 12-track CD, but I definitely do with this one. And, icing on the cake … it’s a quality recording!

In 8 days, this will mark the last time in one of these 3 Faces albums was put up for sale for an entire year! My sincere apologies for starting a thread about an almost unobtainable album.

I am currently over a half a century old, and now I have a new source. It's a Memory Player and for the first time in my life? I actually burned a CD. Bit for bit perfect (verified) and uploaded it into the player. Played it back over the big rig and I gotta admit, telling any difference between the physical CD and the copy via the Memory Player is about as hard as splitting an atom with a hammer.

The CD cover art wasn't available, so I had to run a search and upload that, but it actually wasn't that hard at all.

That said, I obviously have listened to the album again recently and I gotta admit. This is simply some damned fine Blues. It's a shame the label folded shortly after the recording of this. I purchased two more albums that featured Millage Gilbert and they both sucked donkey ****. Not only for music, but for recording quality as well. 3 Faces is THE definitive Millage Gilbert album to acquire or get a copy of.

Tom, I think you finally understand what we talked about a few years ago when you had that initial interest in getting an exact digital copy of your CDs to a server. Glad you are experiencing that finally.
BTW, you didn't burn a CD, you "ripped" it...unless you did burn a new copy to a blank CD-R?

Fake news! 😝 I scored a perfect one off eBay at the end of October.

I might’ve seen 2 others last year, not sure anymore. Wasn’t until I obtained a ripped copy that I knew I had to get one the next time one popped up!

Tom can be excused because eBay usually removes sold listings within a month or less and they no longer show up as sold listings from the various search engines.

So am I. I was only able to do it via the Memory Player....only because it had the software to do all the BS for me and verify it.

I could have done this previously, but way too many terms and computer crap that flew over my head and had no interest in learning about.

I have a love/ hate relationship with computers. Sometimes a stellar relationship, other times, I want to put my fist through the monitor (even though I know it's not the fault of the monitor)....I think you can relate.

Okay, so I ripped versus burned. That's the exact terminology I could have cared less about. Just give me a bit for bit copy. That's all I cared about...and a playback mechanism that rivaled what I have.

While I am still not 100% sold on the MP to playback something compared to my other sources? This album was spot on.

I am still learning and experimenting. As with most sources? There are some attributes as well as deficiencies. It is what it is.

Ok, I admit the EAC process I mentioned back then can be a bit overwhelming in a first read, but once you follow a step by step settings guide, and rip your first CD correctly, it becomes almost automated after that. EAC is the standard, but I'm not convinced that my rips from dBPoweramp aren't just as good sonically. They just don't include the CUE file that lets you re-burn another exact copy. The dbPoweramp rips are super easy to pull off, even for someone who is not a computer nerd.
