    Hi,

Got the system setup and I have to say I am impressed with the sub. It has a nice kick, not boxy or booming. Even with the low voltage preout from the Peachtree. Only using bluethooth at the moment.

    Cheers

    Hi

Just a quick update, I tried listening to some tunes the other day and the sub kept shutting down. It will make a light clipping noise and turn off and this happens at lower volumes. I contacted Sonance and they got back to me very quickly. After a few suggested tests from the service rep, they decided to replace the unit and told me to discard the current one. I guess there is good customer service. It was still under warranty.

Will it be recommended to turn off the sub if I will not use it for some time, and not just leave it on standby mode?

    Cheers

Yeah, Brian from Rythmik told me that it wears out some part, if you leave subs on standby mode.

When he told me this, I had already had the subs on standby for something like 6 years, so (at least for me), eventually replacing that part (or even refreshing the amp) would be well worth it. The sheer amount of things I have to click on from a cold start is already too much.

They may use surface mount boards, in which case, it's easier to replace than get repaired/refreshed. Glad to hear that they are gonna get you back up and running.

Velodyne recommends to turn the sub power off if you are not going to use it for 5 or more days.

That might explain the issues I had with the amps in my SPL subs from Velodyne.

I wish they said something about it after my 3rd amp replacement...

I've never had a problem with any of my 4 Velodyne subs. However, the still under warranty at the time SVS sub needed a new plate amp.

Is this with turning them off, I assume?

I always kept mine in standby mode. After about 18-24 months, they would develop a popping/distorted sound. It always started when the sub first turned on, then developed into happening as the sub was playing.

2 amps were warrantied, last one I paid for it to be rebuilt by Velodyne. After that last one did the same thing, I gave up on them. This was 2 separate SPL-1000II subs.

Ya know, I only turn off the DD+ sub when I know I'll not be using it. The others are SPL subs that I leave in standby.
