The lump sum option can be more or less depending on interest rates, even the lottery takes interest rates into consideration.

In general most cases I would always take the lump sum. For this amount I would have consulted to take the 29yr dispersal due to my age. This amount could fortify 2-3 generations of my entire family not just immediate.

Home down payments, education, family emergency

When you take the annuity payments, it starts out at a lower amount and then increases with each payment.

The winning ticket was sold 7 miles away from my home. I was so close.
Of course I might have had a better chance of winning if only I had bought a ticket. :D

If I'd have won I'd have been dead in a couple weeks from all the hookers and blow. My daughter would get the rest.

Although home prices in Altadena hover above 1 mill, I doubt that the winners will remain in this riff raff part of town. :o

I just want a nice little, actually little, 2 bedroom apartment (edit: meant house) with garage and a new uncrashed car. Then lots of toys.

I would have legitimately bought every long standing member on this board a pair of speakers or piece of equipment.

I tried to win but failed, we won $4 though so I almost broke even.

I was dreaming of a life well lived had I won. Oh well.
