Velodyne CHT-15 any opinions?

Have a chance to pick up a new Velodyne CHT-15 for $375 including shipping. Any opinions on this sub, especially for this price?

I had my eye on a PB2ISD from SVS, although more than I probably needed, the guys at SVS were very helpfull. But when the Velo deal came up, for $600 cheaper, not sure I could pass it up.

I have the cht 10 and it blends in very nicely with the rti8's. I could only imagine what the cht 15 would sound like. My room is 22x17 and very open. While the 10 is not going to shake the walls, it does a super job (very deep). Got mine for $175 plus shipping. couldn't pass that up. You could get the 15 now and upgrade later or just pay up now.

The CHT-15 is very dependable and a great deal for that price. (I've been abusing one at work for quite some time now, and have had no problems.)

It's a pounder, and a good price at $375. It won't run with a PB2-ISD, but it will waffle your pants and provide good performance on HT. Throw $350 at them and see if they take the bait.

FOUND It! I posted by mistake in the "FORUM TESTING" area. Here is what I've to say about Velodyne CHT-15



Great deal on Velodyne CHT-15, I'm using mine for about a year. CHT-15 goes really loud and low. It definitely goes below 20hz. BTW, I never measured it but somehow I know it and I can feel it. The bass output is very strong and clean, once I played ROTK and on one scene the bass was so loud that the shampoo bottle fell in the washroom! No kidding seriously my brother told me when he came out from the washroom. Wow! it really kicks major butt. Also remember to use high quality sub cable. I use Monster THX Ultra sub cable which made a lot of improvement compare to AR HT Pro cable which I was using before.

It also has a Current Sensing Servo technology which is a steal for the price you mentioned. Normally you get CSS technology in expensive subs. CSS technology keeps the driver in normal position which means minimizing the driver movement and lowering the distortions and preventing it form getting damage during heavy bass signals when more air is pushed.

Go for it!

Thanks for all the advice, i stepped up and bought it, now cant wait for the delivery. Tiem to repalce my 8 year old JBL 12" sub.

i had a velo ct 120 buy i upgraded to my dual 15 so there is no compar but i loved my velo till the day i droped it and it died

According to Tom Nousaine it gets down to about 30 Hz and then starts to trail off. It has decent (but not great) THD limited output at 25 Hz, but it's not a legitimate 20 Hz subwoofer. It's still a great buy for $375, though.

The CSS makes sense to me now. On one hand it helps protect the sub, which is great, but on the other hand, once you hit a certain volume level, it won't go any higher. Anyway, still a steal at $375.

30-101 Hz +/- 2.3 dB

With a 10% distortion limit at 2 meters in his room corner loaded, it pulled 108 dB at 32 Hz, but only 92 dB at 25 Hz. That's still not a bad performance, but clearly the sub is optimized for output in the >30 Hz region.
