Pioneer PL-L1000 linear tracking turntable needs help

I bought this a long time ago with thoughts of repairing it and that never happened. Well, actually it was supposed to work and it didn't. Water under the bridge. It spins uncontrollably when the arm is moved over to play. It was stored by the previous owner and is corroded. Maybe why I wasn't very motivated to repair it. The cover is in descent shape.
