Should I put a high pass filter with my Polk S4's?

Would splitting a signal placing a high pass 50Hz or 80Hz or 100Hz filter in the path before my receiver and running a full signal RCA to my Polk PSW10 Sub be of benefit to the sound and efficiency of the S4's?
