Should I use a high pass filter with my Polk S4's?

Would splitting a signal placing a high pass 50Hz or 80Hz or 100Hz filter in the path before my receiver and running a full signal RCA to my Polk PSW10 Sub be of benefit to the sound and efficiency of the S4's?

The best bet would be to use the sub's x-over to do the splitting for you. Alternatively, if your receiver has internal settings, use that to split the frequencies. You would be wasting power sending a full signal to the sub and that sub already doesn't have much. TBT, that's more of a mid-bass module than a sub (I used to have one BITD).
