I wonder what the new McIntosh system in the new Grand Wagoner sounds like?

Love the meters! 7lo7ow5v9s1x.jpeg

I've been following the Youtube and other reviewers because I'm a Jeep fan, even though they break often in my experience, and the consensus is that it's very good but not top tier like a Mark Levinson system in a Lexus or the system in a Cadillac Escalade. Bear in mind that the Grand Wagoneer costs as much as those other brands.

Beautiful interior in those but it's been my experience pieces start to deteriorate rapidly in Jeep interiors after a few years. That may or may not be the case with this model but it would be remarkable for the brand if it isn't the case.

I'd forego the Jeep, and put a Mac in the main rig.

I saw one of those new Grand Wagoneer thingies on I-95 last weekend. It's grotesquely big (IMO, that is) and (rect)angular -- puts me to mind of a Suburban. It doesn't seem like a great idea to simply mimic the competition as opposed to (ahem) trailblazing... but, hey, we're talking Stellantis. :p

$88k+ for a Jeep? Noooo way.

The meters do kinda look cool, I’d have to see it in person I guess.

It's not a Jeep unless it's a CJ7. At least the happy owner of the Wagoneer will have bragging rights about the tunes, while him and his buddies are stuck on the side of the road on the big fishing trip, trying to figure out why the damn thing wont start. :D

I have had a couple of the premium auto makers audio systems over the years. I’m not making the plunge again. From what I have heard they don’t live up to the hype. Are they better than stock? Sure, but not worth the additional investment. I will save the money for aftermarket.

Many years ago I was looking to have a high end aftermarket sound system installed in a brand new vehicle, so one day while in my favorite high end audio store I asked the owner for a recommendation. His answer, why bother!?! At first I was put off by that, but as time went on I came to realize it was solid advice.

I concur (FWIW). I just can't see the point in an automobile.
From my perspective, even if (!) one's commute consists largely of just sitting in stop and go, bumper to bumper traffic, I still don't think it adds much value to have anything more than OK quality audio in a vehicle.
Heck, even when I creep through the last few miles into Boston to teach my glycobiology course, I usually listen to... WBZ-AM (1030 kHz, one of the very earliest of the licensed broadcast radio stations in the US, in 1921). :)
(and not that I am necessarily proud of that being my choice!)

My wife's car has the jbl synthesis system in the avalon and overall is a good sounding car setup. Hardly audiophile but definitrly better than stock.

I usually put the cheapest after market speakers I can find to fit my work cars, like 50 to 100 a pair... Those easily best a stock base model syatem usually.

I hope thowe McIntosh meters are just a display thing that can be turned off because that would be super annoying in a car.

Not a big jeep fan either 😅

Many years ago I had a green Dodge Aspen & it only had 1 speaker placed on the hump on floor between driver & passenger floor/lower leg area. It was the booger mobile. Bought it used like that. :D Fond memories

I'm pretty sure the McIntosh will sounds pretty good if you want to add Leather seats and a sun roof to the model of your choice it comes with the upgraded Stereo package, some of them sound pretty good some are underwhelming.

We have had quite a few new vehicles the past say 15 years had one that had the Bose, had a couple with Rockford Fosgate, Clarion, Blaupunkt, the wifes new Kia has a Harmon Kardon, the Nissan Pro 4X Rockford Fosgate.

Whie these all sound pretty good no complaints, my old Toyata 4X4 with the Kenwood head unit the Alpine Amp pair of JBL coaxials in the front pair of JBL Triaxils in the rear with a 10 inch Kicker Sub puts all the other ones we've had or currently have to shame less than $ 1,000 and not only gets crazy loud, it sounds good while cranking the tunes, that's why I usually drive the older truck the most. You can do much better putting in aftermarket stuff than those fancy ones the new cars offer for a lot less. I myself am curious how that Mcintosh sounds but pretty sure it wont compare with the rig in my older truck.

Sounds right to me. As long as the base system isn’t total junk it’s probably not worth it. I agree with vr3, throw some of the lower end aftermarket stuff in a car if you think it sounds bad and that should be a pretty good upgrade. Too many other things going on in a car, road noise, etc.

The top Mc system sounds nice on paper however its an almost $4k package.

As far as an aftermarket system.....

A well tuned aftermarket system that's well installed in a well dampened vehicle can offer some musical enjoyment while on the road. Its when one has had the chance to live with such a system for awhile then go back to a stock system before one can really know the value.

In some vehicles the sound comes together with ease, with others it can take a lot of work and $$$. There is no easy answer to the aftermarket question. Just like a home system, there's a point of diminishing returns.

As much as I'd love to do a very cool after market system in my car, the oem UConnect / Beats Audio system works for me. It would cost quite a bit and take a lot of time to put something better in.

I have a 17 ES350. Color me underwhelmed... It happened to be in the car when I bought it used a couple years ago. Don't get me wrong, it sounds decent, but nothing I'd pay more (let alone a couple thousand more) for if I bought it new.
