Hello,
Welcome to Club Polk. Is it the Marantz EQ551 equalizer that you have? -
I found this is in the owner's manual:

Do you want to be able to record using the changes made by the EQ? Boost the low frequencies, for example?

Yes, I do. I was able to do it with my previous preamp.

In order to have the EQ effect the recording you have to connect the tape deck to the EQ using #3 connected to the output of the deck and #4 to the input of the deck.

It's what I did. But the HK manual says a different thing.
Thanks for your help -

That what's I've been doing all the time. But it seems it doesn't work with the Citation XXI.
As I said I followed the Citation ownwer manual, and nothing happens. The Eq band bars goes up and down, but no sound at all. When I plug in thw tape deck and th Cd plawer everything works flawlessly.
Thanks for your help -
Hi group!
Finally I came up to a solution. Plugged the CD player to the In socket and the out to IN in the tape 2 in the preamp. Then the tape deck to the Tape sockets in the preamp. I have to test the recording department. But I don't have blank tapes right now. I sounds wonderful. Thanks for all your time and help.
Have nice Sunday and wonderful week. -
I'm glad you got everything working.
