Weekend Speaker Shoot Out Polk vs CW
Well had faster and his family over and had one of my other buddies (non polk mbr) over to shoot out the Polk Monitor 7C's 1" tweet, 6.5 driver and 10" passive and his CV 1" tweet, about 4.5" mid and 10" active woofer. Power, Used the HVavr20 and faster brought his 120W Rotel 2 chnl amp. As i have heard both pairs of speakers before just never heard his at loud levels with good clean power i thought they would give the Polks a run for their money. First up the Polks, avg levels about 92-96db, demoed some outkast for the bass factor. good clean high and mid and deep bass but kinda *muddy* at high levels. Next up the CV. Tweets seemed muddy, not real match up to the polks IMO just didnt hit that sweet high i have come to enjoy, Mids were ok couldnt tell much of a difference but the thing i did like about the 10" woofs is nice Tight bass, not as deep as the polks but nice and tight. Overall IMO the polks win. Next up, we bridged the Rotel to one speaker just to test it out an blew the Rotel......j/k I think it was 360w mono bridged, faster can chim in and correct if need be, but over all was about the same, the speakers seemed to enjoy that high current power. After that we went to HT, threw in the Elephant scene from Return of the King just to rumble the house a bit with the SVS , threw in Finding Nemo for the Kids and drank lots of beer and grilled up some meat on the grilly. All in all was a fun day and hopefully will have some more *Little* demos in the future to share with you guys. My good digi cam's battery went dead and dont have a plug for it so i had to use the mini dv digi camcorder to take a few snaps..Sorry for the quailty, but its better than nothing.
