WTB: Technics SL-1200GR

I've got the upgrade itch. I love my SL-1200MK7, but I know the "GR" is better in many ways. (And the "G" is out of reach money wise.)
I'm always too late when people post reasonable prices on sites like USAM and Audiogon, and I thought maybe a Polkie has a good lead, or he or she has one in a box somewhere being a big, expensive paperweight.
I'm located in Houston (if someone just so happens to be there...as I'd prefer to meet face-to-face, if just to say howdy), but I'm happy to pay for shipping if the total price is right.
I do not have a lot of posts here, but I've been a member for a while and bought multiple items through the Forum, so I can provide references.

Multiple people have sent me private messages saying, "Contact so&so@gmail.com. He's got just what you need!"
Lo and behold, these hot tips are coming from brand new Polk "members" (I use the term very loosely).
I assume such contact is typical, but every time I see a message I get my hopes up. Hopefully someone REAL comes along with an opportunity!!

They're scammers.

When you get your GR, you can donate your MK7 to a fellow Houston Polkie (me), haha! I used to have an MK2, and it was great. Needed some cash, and was a bit less enthused in vinyl for awhile, but I kind of miss it...
I've also gotten those scam messages for my WTB posts. Sadly, there's no easy way to report them in this forum software they use. -
Seems Kevin at KAB may have convinced me the way forward is to get the tonearm on my MK7 rewired rather than trade up for a GR model.
Doesn't mean I'm no longer considering a GR, but my guess is that if I go with the KAB rewire I'll be able to tell whether the higher model will really be an upgrade.
Both the MK7 and the GR have the same tonearm. On the GR the platter is heavier, as is the base. But I've been lucky with my MK7 and not had any platter wobble issues, and I have the turntable pretty well isolated, so I've never experienced any vibration issues with the "hollow" base. As many of us agree on this forum, as long as it sounds good to me, that's what matters. -
So, I crumbled and bought a (gently used) GR model. I'll be listing my (like new) MK7 soon, in case anyone is interested.

Wow the MK7 is super nice! Would be interested if I didn't have two MK2 that are still working fine, going on 22 years since I bought them.
Curious to hear what you think of the GR vs the MK7. -
Yeah, I really do love the MK7. It was just one of those things gnawing at me...moving up to the GR, and I worried if I decided to do something different I may still have that gnawing feeling. I know most of us have been there.
I'll let you know what I think!! (Arrived Thursday, but I probably won't be able to set it up until Sunday.)
