Has anyone checked this out? I rented it and watched it with the better half last night. Found it to be pretty good. Based on a true story, with the research coming from letters written by the main character before they fried her.

Good story line.Well written and acted. Charlize Theron did a great job. So did the makeup crew.

The sound track was well recorded , 5.1 DTS. Pretty cool, it really does envelop you.

Worth checking out IMHO.

I"ll second that, I felt that this movie was a fantastic piece of Hollywood storytelling. And I think that Christina Ricci was fantastic in this movie.

Unfortunate side affect- Charlize is no longer attractive to me at all, just can't put this charactor out of my head when I see her these days... :(
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

It is Hollywood storytelling....... and not true at all !

You know why? It's because the heart of the story is false! The movie paints Eileen Wuornos as a victim in every murder. Where in fact she admitted she killed for robbery and did it without any remorse. She also said there was no act of self defense in any of these cases.

Anyway that's Hollywood for ya ! They say Charlize should've at least thanked Eileen Wuornos for her Oscar during the awards since the movie created sympathy for the character !

She was only shown as a victim with the first murder, with all the others she searched for a reason to label them as bad people to have a reason to kill them. She never showed remorse in the movie, either. More fear than anything but only at first, once she felt that she wouldn't get caught she continued to murder just for the purpose of robbery.

I agree, though, charlize will never again seem quite as attractive as she once was... the makeup was just too good, lol.

    I agree with begbie.

I watched all of the 'Special Features' after I watched the movie and the lunacy that ensued was mind boggling. The dolt that directed this movie was OVERTLY sympathetic to Theron's charachter. It was mind numbingly pathetic. I agree that it's an utter shame that Aileen had the upbringing that she had, but nobody forced her to become a prostitute or murder people. I just get sick and tired of people making excuses for unexcusable behavior. Yes her life sucked, no that doesn't excuse murder or even make me feel the least bit sorry for what you've done....that's just pathetic.

On the other had the Theron's acting made it damn near a masterpiece in that regard. Despite what I said above it is still a great movie.

Add this to the small list of movies I couldn't finish watching, due to boredom. Maybe got through 45 minutes.

watched it tonight.. great effin movie. Not boring at all. Very well done. Charlize theron was amazing. so was Christina Ricci.

I liked the extras.. talked much about the audio mixing and the attention they paid to the DTS 5.1 mix. It's rare that studios will put that much effort into the fine details of mixing it for DTS sound. Nice touch.

I really liked this movie. Theron was oustanding, it was as though she had channeled Wournos. I also agree that I don't know if I can ever find her as hot, I mean she IS Wournos now. Weird.

I think the movie was in many ways a love story, and a story of a love betrayed. Sad, really sad, at least to me.
