Interesting perspective…i love streaming, but there was something about having limits to the music we could consume…

The iPod coupled with the Wadia 170 dock was what got me away from CDs and into High Res digital. A great product in its time, but all good things end at some point.

The original iPod was from 2003, over 19 years ago! 😳

Still have an iPod Touch from 2010 and an iPod Shuffle from 2012. Never use either since I started using Apple Music instead of iTunes downloads.

I actually never owned one personally, but I owned a creative zen vision:m which was a rival to the iPod and that I loved, and then tons on iPhones of course that became my main source of music on the go. Love it or hate it, for most of us the iPod changed the way we consume music (old farts excluded 😂)

Still play my iPods with a Pure I20 dock into the 2 channel, or use them when Mountain Biking or walking the dogs all three still function and get used often. Sad to see an era come to a end.

I use my 160GB Classic exclusively for music on my Goldwing. It is plugged into my trunk and is integrated into factory Honda stereo. I just run it through the whole 7K classic rock songs on it. In three years I am not even halfway through the library.

The iPod Touch is still available on Apple Store New from $200 HERE

This GEN 7 has the same A10 Fusion processor as an iPhone 7, so it will still be eligible for the latest iOS updates for at least another 2 years, possibly longer.

Anyone who still finds a use case for their iPod that may have battery or cracked screen issues, now might be the time consider repairs. Apple considers a product serviceable or not serviceable as follows:
    1. Vintage products are at least 5 years old, but not more than 7 years old, based on when they were last sold. They are serviceable as long as parts are available.
    2. Obsolete products are more than 7 years old, and will not be eligible for hardware service.

The following iPod products are Vintage, and can still receive service.
    • iPod Touch Gen 4 & Gen 5
    • IPod Shuffle Gen 4 (2012)
    • iPod Nano Gen 7 (2012)

Anything newer than those will be eligible for service and parts should be available. An iPod Touch battery will cost $80. A screen repair will cost $130. You may receive an (indistinguishable from new) refurbished replacement instead.
    Alea jacta est!

Before the pandemic shutdowns I used an iPod classic with a docking station table radio in my office at work. I left it behind for a couple years but charged it back up when I went back to the office a few weeks ago. Works. Still a great product! I only use it for MP3 files because it’s for background tunes but I do have 30000 plus tracks on it.
