I just inherited a pair of these Monitor Series 4 86453 speakers in excellent working condition and was wondering about their specs, when produced and, though I am NOT selling them, if they were of any value. There are going to replace my front mains on my old Panasonic SA-BTT350 surround sound system that uses the small "pod" type satellite speakers ( https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/729452-REG/Panasonic_SC_BTT350_SC_BTT350_3D_Blu_ray_Home.html ).

Also that home theater in a box unit is rated at 125x2 at ten full percent THD so in reality it's probably doing like 10-25 watts. It will work but it's far from ideal.

I can't take volume like I used to so a full sound at a low volume is fine by me these days. Louder volumes trigger migraines in my 65 year old head. I still am a Classic Rock/Jimi Hendrix/Robin Trower/SRV/Black Sabbath fan, just at lower volumes without the head banging. ;-) The system DOES have a surprisingly good sound, as is, and gets WAY too loud for apartment living. I'll post a pic of the speakers the next time I drag my carcass from my recliner.

That model is not worth much but they still sound pretty good definitely better than what you have for sure.

Maybe the new sound will inspire you to step up the rest of your setup. Then you'll fall down the rabbit hole and be spending money on cables & everything 😉

LOL, no, BT;DT;GTS. Besides, with my tinnitus and living situation, I already have WAY more sound than I need.

BTW 86453 is the serial number for that speaker, you'll not that the other is different.

I've got a pair in my office and they are perfect for that space. I'd love a early set with the Peerless tweeters.

Thanks for the info! Is there no model number on these anywhere? That's strange... What tweeters does this one have and what is the difference between the two tweeter types?

@Nightfall I DID just acquire a linear tracking turntable and component stereo system from the same source as the speakers. Make and model to be determined. They will be sold or donated though as I haven't the space for them.

Sorry hard to know how specific to be, it's a Monitor 4 serial number 86453

As far as the differences in the tweeters, I'll let you search around in the forum here, there a lot of good information.

Just got this unit in a fitted glass front and top roll-around cabinet. Top down: Linear tracking turntable, AM/FM receiver, Amp/Control unit. Not shown: Unified remote.
