Need a favor from someone that has some Polk Monitor 10 stands. I want to build my own and need some dimensions. A digital picture with a ruler next to the stands would be great.

Height and angle of leanback is what I am after.

Thanks in advance.

i have stands that i bought along with monitor 7b's. i don't know whether there is a difference between that and stands made for 10's.

from memory the base and column are particle board w/, maybe, plastic laminate and a stamped steel top where the speaker sits.

if those dimensions will help i'll dig the stands out. i haven't posted pics here and won't have time to figure that out, fiddle with the camera and computer and clean them up for a couple of days, but i can get you accurate dimensions no later than tonight if they're what you need.

    Hey Paul...

I've got a set of original Monitor 10 stands.
Actually.... these M10 stands came from Scott Trigg.
Anyway, I'll put together a sketch for ya and send it your way.
    E-mail me your address.

Thanks for the replies guys and the offer to help out.

Scott I would prefer to keep the original intent of the Monitor 10s that Polk had when they built the stands. So I would prefer to use the dimensions that Ron provides. Thanks for offering to help though. I probably could have been pretty close with the dimensions you have. I'm thinking tweeter height should be the approximately the same.

Ron, I sent you an email. Thanks bud.

today i'd go the same route, however, what, 15-20 years ago, i had no idea whether the polk stands sold with monitor 10's and 7's were the same or not, much less whether the store i bought them from kept both in stock if there were two different models. i have some memories of being in the store for demo's and purchase, but, none of whether i was offered different height stands. i just wanted to get the whole shooting match home and set it up.

i looked at the stands and there were no markings to indicate whether they were designed for a specific model. i figured if there was some difference, someone here would know and chime in before we went too far in the wrong direction.

if it's not too much trouble, at some point, i'd be interested in pics or dimensions of the m10 stands for future reference,.. and naturally the pics of your project. years ago, i used my stands as a reference to build dups for another set of speaks too. today, a set of corian stands for the lsi9's is on the list, though, pretty far down,.. but that's another thread.

for the height, for me, i wouldn't be overly concerned with the original. if i were taking the trouble to build my own, instead i'd try to get the tweet/drivers at the ear level of the chair *i* sit in and getting it right for the level *i* prefer to listen to them at(for me, the tweet a bit above ear level(i recline while i listen)), rather than what whoever built the originals guessed my chair/ear level/incline would be. the original angle, however, i think is very important for individual speaks to keep the drivers aligned vertically.

    good luck

    I would second that thought.

Now that's thinking "outside the box" for sure.

Good observation. Once I get the dimensions I will see how that fits.

    Paul-
Did you get your stands built? I'm in the same boat, now....

Just like to know what you used for building materials.
    Ludicrous gibs!

    nadams,

No man. I think Ron might have forgot about it. thanks for reminding him;)

I was going to wait to decide about the building materials. I think some pine board would be good or oak. Depending on the price difference I would prefer to go with the denser material. Ah looks like the density is about the same actually.. Pine it is.
