Polk Audio SDA2B tweeter replacement to Finland

Hi all,

I have been lucky to find pair of Polk SDA2B's from Finland.
I really like these speakers and after reading the forum I feel like I would want to replace the SL2000 tweeters with RDO-194 tweeters to listen how it affects the sound.
And also to actually have replacement parts if one tweeter breaks.

Contacted Polk support and they replied that they do not send replacement parts to outside of US :(

I am contacting local dealers, hopefully they can order a pair.

Anybody have ideas of possibilities to get a pair shipped to Finland?

Thanks!
Best regards,
Olli

    Hi Olli,

This business offers international shipping. They also carry the RD0198.

That said, I suggest you perform the TL mod to your 2B's in order to use the RD0198. The mod requires a slight modification to the crossover, which is well documented here. This mod is well worth doing.

    Thanks a lot for advice!
Ordered a pair from Midwest speaker repair.
Could not find 5.8 uf capacitor so I will use 5.6 uf, hopefully the difference is not too much.

After checking the other posts I think I know where to solder the new cap but just to make sure, it should be there on C5 right?

    Pic is from before re-capping.

I earlier changed the old capacitors to new ones. Also removed the extra resistor which previous owner had installed for some reason to pathway towards tweeter. Seen in right top corner there.

Can't wait to get those new tweeters delivered! 😁

One lead of the 5.8uF (C5) goes into the hole closest to R2, the other lead goes into H. You'll have to remove the glue covering it next to the small inductor. You'll need a jumper from R2 to P3 where that added resistor was. I'm guessing they added it to help tame the SL2000 tweeter.

Remove the C4 bypass cap and leave that space empty. Remove S1 and replace with a 0.5 ohm resistor.

To remove the glue apply denatured alcohol with a Q-tip to the glue and around the edges of it. Keep it wet. After a few minutes the glue will peel right off.
