Why Standard BluRay Disc with 4K BluRay Purchases?

Hey guys and gals,

This has been bugging me for a while! Why do you get a normal BluRay disc in the packaging of the 4K version when you order it? Just recently received the Tom Holland 3 movies 4K set of Spiderman and received 6 discs! Many of my 4K purchased also have the same. You don't get a standard DVD when you buy a 1080P BluRay disc, so why are the manufacturers persisting with this?

Any inside info would be appreciated :)

Justify the cost somewhat, maybe? I like the streaming codes that are normally added with the package.

It's just about compatibility on more than one type of playback device. Someone's really paying for access to the content. The form it's in is secondary. It was pretty common when Blu Ray came out for there to be a DVD in the case too. Not so much now but it's still normal.

The discs don't cost much to produce and some people still use DVD players in some situations even though they have a Blu Ray player around and some people who use a 4K player need to be able to play the content on a Blu Ray player or by streaming. Funny thing is I buy physical media 4K content but more often than not mostly watch the streaming version without using the included 4K or Blu Ray discs. Just a matter of convenience.

All my car players have been dvd, no blu ray. Really helps with the kids on long road trips!
