Adcom GFP-750 - Modded

I got this from Gerres26 and I swore I'd never sell it......well, I bought a really expensive ultrasonic record cleaner and I'm too old to sleep on the sofa.

So this has been gone through and upgraded so it's better than new and, zero hyperbole, is a destination piece. See details below:

I've got the MF Tai-Vista and the A1008 and neither are going anywhere anytime soon.

My Polkie Price is 650, shipped, lower 48 w/Manual and aftermarket remote.

We used one at Polk fest and we all really enjoyed the passive preamp section alot. The active adds a little punch. Sounded great

I'll put it to you this way. I'm not the biggest fan of Adcom gear or their "house sound". Like Trey mentioned, this was in play at this year's Polkfest and the passive sounded very neutral (read - a good thing) and the imaging/stereo separation/cleanliness of the sound was a pleasure to listen too. This is normally not the case with my ears and Adcom.

As far as the active section, I believe I briefly listened to that at the very beginning of the event but I had other things keeping me preoccupied at the time, so I really didn't get good observations on that aspect of it. If memory serves, it was only in active for an hour or two? Then it was switched to passive and AFAIK, it stayed that way for the rest of the event.

I have not heard a modded C-19 from Rolland in my travels but he would have had to have made some significant improvements to the C-19 in order for it to lose its veiled presentation. Their is a lot more that I am not fond of when it comes to the C-19 but I will not get into that. Let's just say that their is plenty of room for improvement. "Restricted" is a word that immediately comes to mind when I think of the C-19.

This is a great pre that may be unbeatable at this price in the things that it does well. I always enjoyed running it in passive mode when I had it paired with a Pass X250. Maybe the synergy of two Pass designed pieces were in play but it was not embarrassed at all by some higher priced preamps I’ve had come through my house.

I always tell myself I should have kept mine, it was in mint condition, original packing, working remote, and all.. But the truth is, it would still be put away in my closet packed up not being used along with a bunch of other stuff I should thin out.. LOL!!!

That’s where I am at.....this thing deserves to be used and not languish in a closet hoping that an MF dies or I lose my faculties.

Congrats, @rebelsoul. You won't be disappointed. Mine was for sale (no mod) a while back and I wasn't willing to part with for a higher price than you paid. Changed my mind and decided to keep it w/the goal of modding at a later date. For less AND mod'd...score!
