Marshall Bluetooth Speakers
Anybody heard them? Opinions?
I happened into a Best Buy about a month ago to kill time and I stumbled across them. Best Buy had about 4 speakers set up to demo and I was blown away by the largest speaker, the Tufton. I left the store with no intention of buying because (1) I wasn't in the market (I just bought 2 JBL Charge 5 about 8 months ago) and (2) they're not cheap.
As the day went on, I couldn't stop thinking about the sound I heard from that "little" speaker. Once we got home I started doing a little research and found that Marshall has a line of bluetooth speaker, some portable, some not. I'd never heard of Marshall speakers except for guitars amps. Anyway, I ended up getting not one, but two speakers. The Tufton, the portable speaker that I heard in Best Buy, and the Woburn II, a non portable bluetooth speaker. My thought was that I'd listen to them and decide which one to keep based on price, performance, and meeting my needs. As of now, I've decide to keep both!. They are, in my opinion, very cool looking, but more importantly, they sound phenomenal. I brought in a JBL Boombox to make sure I was getting the speaker I wanted, and it was no contest. I did a blind A/B test with my wife between the Tufton and the Boombox and she quickly chose the Tufton. The bass is crazy for a speaker this size and it has such a warm sound.
Will it replace my two-channel rig? Of course not, but it's a totally different animal. If you're in the market for something portable or just a nice bluetooth speaker for background-ish music, I strongly suggest you give them a listen.

My wife has the medium Bluetooth marshall speaker. It sounds pretty good.

The Tufton looks good. I bought the JBL boombox about 4 years ago or so ( original series not 2). One of the reasons why I chose the JBL boombox over a lot of other ones is it floats. Rewind to 4 years ago. One of the kids took my water resistant Bluetooth speaker on a rafting trip. Raft tipped and my speaker was not to be found. They could not find it after it sank so, I made sure my next one floated!
Back to the Tufton, I have not heard that model but I have heard a few of the Marshall models and they sounded darn good.Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's. -
I had repaired a Marshall bluetooth speaker for a friend. Other than the capacitor in the power supply that went bad, it looked to be designed pretty well with solid build and decent components. I did up the voltage spec on the power supply capacitors just in case. The sound was so good that my son bought one.Stan

The floating/ruggedness is the exact reason I got a Boombox (also original) to compare. Even though it doesn’t sound as good (imo), the JBL is definitely the choice if it’s primarily for outdoor use such as camping, at the beach, etc. I have two Charge 5 that I play in stereo by the pool. If I didn’t have them, I likely would have gone with the Boombox.
The Tufton is darn close to the Woburn II is SQ. I really should only keep the Tufton, but I love the looks of the Woburn II and that extra little bit of better sound makes it a keeper for me. And out of all the gear I’ve run through here, my wife said the other night that she might pull out the veto card if I ever decide to get rid of it. This is, of course, based on looks and not sound. So in my situation the WAF is off the charts🤣🤣Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden
