Monitor 5jr refinish

Just finished my latest speaker recycle project: My daughter wanted a stereo for her birthday, and specifically asked for a pair of vintage speaker...I couldn't deny her
A neighbor was selling a pair of Monitor 5jr that sounded great, but the vinyl was pretty scratched up and the cabinets had a couple issues. There was one corner that was pretty banged up, and another where the seam had separated a bit.
Long story short after peeling off the old vinyl I used some wood filler to fill the cracks and dent, sanded and then applied some new vinyl. This is my first attempt at a vinyl project like this, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
In this next picture, I learned the hard way that the vinyl on these older MDF speakers does not come off as easily as on newer speakers (I had previously applied new vinyl to the front of my RT55i) I took off a little of the outer layer of MDF when I first started peeling away from this corner, and had to use some extra wood filler to even things out.

Looks great! Nice job.

The 5jr+ is a very underrated speaker. Mine needed some new poly switches but my son pilfered them for TV. They are never pushed enough to trip the switch in TV mode 😆

Nice job. My first Polks were Monitor 5jr+ (Series 2)--they're still in great shape and I gave them to my in-laws. I'm a fan.Jay
