Oval Drop In Bathtub..

Anyone here ever replace, or put in a drop in bathtub? I am getting ready to start remodeling our master bathroom, and have been looking at options for a replacement tub.

We do not want a whirlpool type tube, that is whats in there now, and to service it at all you need to pull up the tub, we just want a tub to soak in.

Been looking at Kohler, American Standard, Laurel Mountain, and Jacuzzi brands. But like almost everything like this, you can't just go look at one with your own eyes and go 'thats the one'. But all in all they look to be pretty similar in build quality, and price point..

Sometimes shopping on line $ucks..

If anyone here has any recommendations, I am all ears..

Are you wanting a one person tub or two?

I replaced an oval "garden tub" with a 1923 American Standard clawfoot tub. I LOVE this thing! If your tall I'd recommend the extra long version. I picked up an old one and had it re-enameled then picked up a set of feet from an 1860's clawfoot tub.

I helped my Dad build their master bathroom 14 years ago. We installed a fiberglass tub and separate shower. I remember all the fixtures were Kohler, but can't remember the brand tub. I know with fiberglass, they have thin ones and thick ones. The thin ones flex. He went with a rock solid thick one and dumped a bucket of joint compound on the floor before we set the tub in place. so the floor of the tub would be solid. He did all the tile work and trim.

My aunt had one like that they sunk into the bathroom floor. The rim was all that was above floor. Loved it as a kid.

It took forever to find the right one from Wayfair....turned out pretty, pretty good, although not an oval, to give you another idea. Framing it out was a major pain to get just right but worth it in the end.

I'm in the same boat. Want to shorten my tub...a little taller back, and expand my shower

Want to get rid of all the glass in the shower, and have an opening large enough for a wheelchair so someone can hose my oldass off.

Or they can just put me in the back of the pickup and run through a carwash

When I had my bathroom and walk-in shower remodeled I got rid of the glass shower doors and just use a curtain instead. I got so sick and tired of cleaning the doors I was ready to take a sledge hammer to them. I don’t remember the last time I used a tub.

I stashed a little 401k cash just for that. I'll make sure they use the warm ceramic wax. I'll also ask them to extend the blow dry cycle for another 60 seconds so you can ..... well you know ..... Get behind the sac.....

By the way I'll make sure Tom gets your back ....
