My DIY speakers -"J&N"

The idea of hand-made/ DIY / loudspeakers was born in me, when I saw the model of JBL-tI6K . The design and fabrication of these unique shapes are made by a Danish designer. The pyramidal shape of the speakers is generally denied by the DIYers, or at least for the most part, but I decided at the moment that's my loudspeaker design. If there is interest in the topic, I will continue ;

  • I would very much like to hear more! I have thought about doing a new cabinet shape such as this for the components in my Polk 7Bs. I know that it would help with imaging and diffraction and panel resonances and that internal standing waves are tamed by non-parallel sides.

  • Gentlemen, thank you all for your attention and good evaluation of my project, thank you very much!

    I will show a few stages in the construction of these speakers, but first their technical characteristics;
    The loudspeakers are;
    "SEAS"- Excel / Tw-1”, Mw-5”for center 2х 5.5”, Bass-8,5”/ and cross-over parts- "Intertechnik".
    Nominal impedance- 8 Ohm.
    Range 30Hz- 25kHz.
    Characteristic Sensitivity(2,83V/1m)- 87db.
    Long Term- 110W.

    I'll show you, how I made these speakers, supported with photos and with detailed information as possible. This project is a long time ago and some of the stages during their construction , I can not show them - I do not have the necessary material, but what is available, I suppose will be enough to provoke your interest.
    At first, I had to figure out how to bend MDF plates. In the internet now has a very detailed material on how this process is being carried out with complicated multi-operative press machine, but 2009 this information was scarce and irrelevant to me because, its clear I can not make a similar device at home.
    to be continued...

    I see you're from Bulgaria and are proud of the construction of these speakers.

    Not bored (or boored). Ignore any negativity. I read the entire thread that TonyM posted the link to (top one) and it was very interesting.

    1) Tell us about how these latest creations of yours sound compared to any manufactured high end speakers you have listened to previously. It's OK to be biased :) You've earned the right to brag as well!

    2) I noticed lots of foil covered material used at one step on the enclosure. Was this constrained layer damping material such as Dynamat Xtreme? Is it between the layers of MDF?

    3) So you create the MDF curved shapes by bending and laminating up multiple layers of 4mm MDF around an internal framework of braces. What adhesive do you use and what are the techniques used for bending and clamping compound curvatures like you have in your speakers?

    That comment was disrespectful and rude.

    I think the speakers look beautiful and the drivers used are top drawer.
    I'd love to hear them, the drive is a bit much though 😜

    I thought audioluvr was just joking around when he posted his comment, because there wasn't any info in the speakers yet.

    I didn't know at first if the photo up top was something the OP was modeling after, or already built and planning to share the build process.

    I later found the build process on another forum. An *incredible* effort and beautiful result. Especially impressed given that he used only basic tools.
    I disabled signatures.

    I agree the speakers are beautifully done.

    I believe the original comments of negative nature was in regards to the OP going to literally every audio forum to talk about this build.

    Which is a little strange but he has every right to be proud of that build for sure! 😊

    It's almost like the new normal is to be offended by everything. I hope with the new school values they don't start sending kids to the guidance counselor's office after show and tell (clear case of narcissism after all)

    But seriously, if he hadn't added our forum to his long list of ones he has posted on, how many of us would now know about it? I'd say pretty close to 0%. He said he was trying to promote DIY and wanted to share some of his knowledge. I'm looking forward to learning more.

    Welcome Joro!
