Polk Audio RTA 11t

Morning, Because I have to move, I'm in a bad situation that leaves me with selling many things. Stereo equipment being one of my treasured possessions, this is a tough one! I have had a pair of RTA 11t's for at least 20 years now. They are one of the most amazing speakers I have put ears to, yet I am moving to a situation where it's not feasible to obtain them any longer. My ? is, what are they worth? What can I get for them and where to place them so that I may get them to someone who appreciates them for their awesome sound? They are in very good to excellent condition! All black cabinets. Thanks for any help that you may be able to lend. Charlie

In very good to great condition, it will vary some for sure, but more based on what part of country you are in, and if there is any demand for them,
A very nice speaker for sure, I owned them years ago, but just do not expect to get a "Lot" out of them. In my area Ohio/Pa/Wv I tend to see them once and a while in decent shape for around, $150-300 on the high end. Not sure what they actually go for in the end though.

Do you plan to do Craigslist or Ebay? They are quite heavy and large to ship obviously and the magnets on the 4 midwoofers should be epoxied before moving, as they tend to "Shift".

    What area are you located?

During my Covid Shutdown Sell-a-thon two years ago I sold 3 sets of 11t's and a pair of 11tl's . They sold for prices between a hundred and two hundred dollars. A minty pair was the one that garnered the two hundred dollar price tag.

Like others have already stated location will play a vital part in determining their selling price. Craigslist, Offerup, and Facebook Marketplace are good places to sell entry level audio equipment.

^^^^^Agreed, it all depends on your location usually. Welcome to Club Polk!

  • Thanks to all who answered! I am located in northern lower Michigan. Your $ values are some that I expected and have seen a pair on Ebay for $299 and they looked to be in great condition and similar to mine. As those who have owned them know, they sound great and, in my mind, I think they are worth more but, I get it. I understand the speaker market is pretty crazy out there.
Thanks also to Hansvelton for the shipping tip. I was unaware of the possible shift in magnets.
While I have you all here, what is the best Polk Audio bookshelf speaker? Thanks again!
  • I doubt you will get agreement on the "best" Polk bookshelf. Some might like some of the older monitor line from the 80s, some the Lsi9s, some RT or RTi series, and some the new Legend Series and so on.

There is no one right answer, but I have owned quite a few except for the latest ones. They all have good qualities, but all sound different in some key ways.
