I very carefully sat one of the down on a desk. I didn't move it around and was extremely gentle with it. The bottom of one got a few little scratches by not having those little feet attached. Luckily it was extremely minor and nothing happened to the other one.

The Black finish is EXTREMELY vulnerable to scratching. Had I even moved it side to side slightly it would have been horrible. Put the feet on it first thing even if you do not like the feet. Otherwise it will look like it was abused terribly. I never noticed this with the LSi9's but I'm sure it is the case. I guess I always had mine sitting on a towel.

Do you have the vinyl wrapped versions?

    Does yours have seams?

The new painted on finish should NOT scratch up easily.

Also the rubber feet, put them on -- but also dont take them off. They will rip off the finish (as they do on the RT series).

I would just put a towl under them...forget the rubber feet.

My furniture from Walmart has a similar high gloss finish as the older LSi line did and it does indeed scratch easy as well.

Do you mean seams around the front that you can see if you remove the grill? If so then I have seams. Is that the older style? How is it made? Will the feet pull the finish off mine? If so I'll come up with an alternate idea.

The seam, I believe is either a veneer or a vinyl -- I doubt it is veneer.

That is the old style, the new style is painted on.

And YES, new or old -- the rubber feet will eff up the bottom of the speaker.

The lil feet did it to my old RT25i, and my RT35i...them dang things SUCK

When I put my pair onto stands should I put some of those clear little rubber bumper things on the stand and leave the feet off? I belive I will be getting a pair of the old version.

I recomend getting a rubber matt, or rubber bands that dosnt attach to the speaker so it dosnt rip the finish off.

I've used a few things for my speakers.......

First option is that foam non-stick stuff that you can put under bit carpets on a wood floor. That stuff has a little padding to it, and will keep your speaker from getting all twisted up.

Second is thick plastic pad that I believe is meant to line drawers. It's not Contact paper, but somewhat similar.....about 20-30 times thicker. I bought a huge roll of the stuff from IKEA for like $3 or somethin......

The only thing that i ever had a problem with on that foam non-stick padding is that it can bleed some marks either on the speakers, or on the surface you're putting them on.

The laminate version has a seam around the perimeter on the back of the speaker and sharp edge instead of rounded.

The black gloss finish does scratch easily. Normal dusting will
    even start to show wear.

I used ZAINO’s #2 car polish to maintain the finish. DO NOT use any Other car polish!! This is a polish that improves the looks but more Importantly adds a layer of protection to stop minor
    scratches.

ZAINO #2 has no abrasives unlike other polishes,so it is safe to use.

    NEVER use a paper towel!!
    1.Apply with a Microfiber towel.
    2.Cure 40min.
    3.Polish with Microfiber.
