I'm trying to up-grade my surrounds basicly for the music standpoint,I'am currently using the rti28's mounted on the wall(rear)and was thinking of the rti38.The 38's have been hard to come by and seem to have held their value on the used market.I checked the specs on the rti6 and seemed to be comparable ,and basicly the same price (used).Has any body compared these,I'd rather buy the ones that sounded better, than trying to pinch pennies. All my speakers are rti line, but also, there are alot of lsi7's on e-bay(no fry,s in my area) in the same price range.Help, any input would be much appreciated.

Going from the 28's to the 38's on the rear for music purposes ain't gonna make much difference. May not be worth the effort.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

RTi6 will smoke RTi38 on top end detail...IMO
mids and bass, again - I'll throw the RTi6 a bone.
IMO all the way.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I have seen many comments about the RTi6 sound better than the RTi38. I wonder how many of them were based on impressions during A/B comparisons.
I am very happy with my RTi38, it can play loud without sounding strained, and the mids and highs are smooth and sweet. I auditioned the RTi8, 10, & 12 in the Future shop several times, and I did not find any justifications to upgrade my 38 to any of them. All of the Future shop I visited were using either the HKAVR430 or 630. Compared to my set up at home, I am only using a much criticized Sony receiver (mind you it is a DA4ES) as pre/pro and an old Adcom GFA555 to drive the RTi38. Still, I have never done an A/B comparison between the two so I do not know if I would prefer the sound of one over the other, but I doubt the difference will be great.
Failing to find confidence (in terms of better than the RTi38) in the RTi8,10...etc., and that the LSi series are all 4 ohm speakers, I am now looking to Energy Veritas and Paradigm. So I auditioned a few of them and I still don't find them significantly better sounding than the RTi38.
One thing I did notice was that the Veritas and the Studio speakers seem to have better sound stage and depth. But then, where I audioned the Veritas, they were driven by an Arcam receiver in one dealer and Bryston 4BSST in the other, and the Paradigm were driven by a separate Anthem system.
To sum up, the RTi38 is incredible in terms of SQ, so if the RTi6 is better, then it may be the best speaker at its price point in the universe.
May be Polk Audio should double its selling price immediately, or re-badge it as an LSi6, that will be a good start for Polk Audio to start marketing their first 8 ohm high end speakers.
