Regarding best settings

Just looking for some guidance, I know my system is pretty anemic compared to others but it is what I can afford and the space will allow at this time.

Front left and right Polk audio T50
Center Polk audio Blackstone TL2
No sub
Rear surround KLH bass reflects rear port from the early 1990s, rated down to 80

AVR Onkyo TX Sr393

Any guidance of crossover settings to ensure not overloading the speakers?
Thanks😎

  • Additional info: when running the AVR calibration it sets my front left and right as full range, center at around 100, but it is rated about 120/125 and my rear surrounds down at 70 even though they’re rated at 80🤔

Like I said confused but not wanting to overwhelm my system.

    Welcome to the forum!

Honestly, I would run this set-up as two channel until you can get a more capable center speaker. Shop the thrifts and Craigslist. Eventually you’ll find a polk for cheap that will work much better with your mains. Rears are not as critical, but 60% of surround sound comes from the center; don’t skimp there.

Try to find a Polk center that has dual 6 1/2” mid/bass drivers to match your towers.

By your first post, if you aren't planning any other changes, I was just going to say to set up your fronts the same way you later noted the AVR calibration has configured for you - Front Large, Center crossed at 120Hz.

So you're able to set different crossover points for each channel set? Not just one crossover point for all speakers set Small?

I'd leave everything just as the AVR set it, except maybe move your rear crossover back up to 80Hz.

Does it sound balanced/matched? Make some minor level tweaks if anything sounds out of balance.
    I disabled signatures.
  • Thanks everyone 😎

At this time I am not able to update and purchase a new center channel, plus currently do not have the space below my TV.

Overall things do sound relatively matched. Used a DB meter to get proper leveling from my preferred seating area but just wanted to make sure I wasn’t over or under powering my current speaker set up.
