Anyone get one of these yet? The kids got one last night and what a hoot, I thought just another video game, no big deal.

I was wrong we were up until 2am messing with the thing when we were able to pry it out of the kids hands the wife and I had a blast. The only thing is I wonder how long it will take until one of the controllers flys out of someone's hands and breaks.

I think as soon as Best Buy opens up tommorow were going to fight the crowds and get one of these anyone else have one of these new fangled gadgets yet?

Havent got one yet pretty sure the kids will be on that thing all day chances of getting another turn is pretty slim, but seriously am considering one. A few of the games are a workout actually worked up a sweat.

What is a huge VR building? Like, a vacant lot?
Their Parking lots are always full? That sounds ironically real , or do you mean just virtually?

You know Doc it could very well be a figment of my imagination.

Big metal prefab sort of building. Inside this building is some sort of virtual reality type of gaming action.
I visit a BBQ joint across the street (which is very good) from said VR bidness....

It's parking lot always seems to have many vehicles, when ever I get some Q

    Ya feel me brah?

It just seems funny that they'd need... you know... a building... for virtual reality.
    Like... counterintuitive, or somethin'.

They are big in sim racing and flight sims. I've tried one. The FOV isn't as good as 3 monitors and they can get hot on your head if the room isn't cool.

It is like riding in a real car and depth perception is better. I haven't tried one in a flight sim yet.

Ha the intrest of the Oculus has taking a dive after getting a couple of go's at it yesterday the only ones we liked were the light Sabre Squares and the boxing one, most of the games are demos and you have to pay more for the full version. You pay $299 and right off the bat they want more money for full versions no thanks.

When the wife was getting ready to go spend her gift cards this morning she said if Best Buy is packed she is not going in. I then showed her the Brain cancer possibilities on reddit from these things she said hmm and proceeded out the door. She called me a bit ago that Best Buy was packed and said we can just go over to the kids and check it out once in a while figures it will sit around like the PS4 and Wii so other than spending money on that shes getting other stuff. I told her I could see it sitting around unused a few weeks down the road oh well more money in the pocket.

All of my Sim stuff w/o the computer, probably $6-$6,500 or so. Some of my equipment is not in the picture.

I didn't start out with that setup and I built it over a 12 year time frame.

No idea what the guy spent on that motion rig I posted pictures of. I know it's $$$$$.

The simulators they use in F1 are over a million or more.

Mine is pretty entry level & it was $1,200. You can spend less but you probably don't want to go a whole lot cheaper. You could clamp a couple hundred dollar wheel to a desk and sit on a kitchen chair but the experience won't be good.

I started out with a wooden platform I made to hold my wheel and pedals when I used to race the computer cars in GP3 and 4. Can't get much cheaper than that.

Way more than a couple of grand. It has motion, high dollar steering wheels and belts that tighten when you brake and simulate g forces in the corners. That is not a kit, he built it himself, just like I designed and built mine. Probably at least $10,000 to $12,000 in that rig.
