Tomorrow 12/25/21, the James Webb Telescope launches into space. Hopefully everything goes right, they spent the last ten years working on this thing not to mention a lot of money. The data that it sends back should be pretty spectacular. Anybody interested in this?

    Being on the West Coast the launch is around 4 AM PST if there are no delays. Guess I have a reason to stay up, listen to music, and drink beer. Plus it's Xmas. Hope all goes well. I'm looking forward to seeing its discoveries.

    I saw this featured on an episode of NOVA or some other PBS show. Lots of eggs in that basket with no opportunities for repairs. Looking forward to the discoveries that this could result in.

    It's pretty amazing the sun shield can block out so much of the heat from the sun. The sun facing side should be around 230 degrees F, and the opposite side should be around -394 degrees F. The thickness of these five layers are only .002" to .001" each.
    I sometimes have a heck of a time putting plastic wrap on a bowl, can't imagine having to deal with a piece that's the size of a tennis court.

    This really blew me away.

    The pulse cooler is basically two transducers in opposing fashion ( to reduce vibration) to make sound waves to help with the cooling process.
