Thoughts on Adcom 5500

$500 for a pretty mint condition 5500. Anyone with experience with this amp?

I have a friend with a couple of these. One has a small hissing noise until it heats up properly. Other than that, they sound great. For $500 that's a great deal!

Personally, I might pass. They are getting pretty long in the tooth and most should be needing some sort of repair by now, or in short order. Unless you have no problem doing repairs yourself, obviously, otherwise the costs having a shop do it is going to outweigh the amps worth.

I agree with Tony. If it's still all original it's at the point where some servicing will need to be done. This goes for most amps this age. I guess it depends how much you want to sink into it.

I have the Adcom 5503 3-channel. They have a parts kit for it also.
Are these quality parts? Is the pricing reasonable? Asking you experts. Thank you.

While most of us can exchange parts, there's more to the service than just simply switching parts.
The price seems reasonable for the parts.
